Job Description
About Mariana Minerals
Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. We’re reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
The Role
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern to work on real, high-impact problems within the Process & Plant Engineering team. You will contribute directly to our Deep Sea Nodule Refining Pilot Plant project, working closely with engineers and domain experts.
This role is designed to provide hands-on experience building and shipping solutions, not just supporting tasks.
What You’ll Do
• Assist with mechanical design and specification of equipment for a multi-metal pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical pilot plant, including vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, and material handling systems
• Support preparation of equipment datasheets, procurement packages, and vendor drawing reviews
• Assist with physical installation activities on-site, including layout coordination, alignment checks, and interfacing with fabrication and construction contractors
• Participate in commissioning activities including pre-commissioning inspections, punch list tracking, and functional testing of mechanical systems
• Maintain organized documentation of as-built conditions, equipment records, and commissioning logs
Desired Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with coursework in fluid mechanics, machine design, or materials
• Exposure to piping systems, pressure vessels, or rotating equipment design is an asset
• Comfortable working in an active construction or industrial environment with appropriate safety protocols
• Strong attention to detail and ability to read and mark up engineering drawings and P&IDs
• Proactive, hands-on work style; prior internship or co-op experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is a plus
Why Join Us?
