4-Month Term | Potential for longer Employment
Crown West Steel Fabricators Ltd.
is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Student or Mechanical Engineering Technologist student to join our Quality Team. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this role will support daily quality operations, including final inspections of finished products and continuous improvement initiatives within our internal quality systems and manufacturing processes.
This position is ideal for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing quality control and process improvement within a fast-paced steel fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Inspection
Perform physical inspections of flat, welded, and formed sheet metal components (training provided)
Conduct final inspections on finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards
Maintain and update non-conformance records and databases
Assist in identifying root causes of quality issues alongside operators and production staff
Recommend corrective actions to lead hands, supervisors, and management
Ensure adherence to internal quality procedures and standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality systems and workflow processes
Complete additional duties as required
Qualifications
Requirements
Current student enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical program
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills with production teams and management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook & Teams
Familiarity with SolidWorks
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Preferred Assets
Experience with ERP software
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable standing for extended periods
Ability to operate measuring and inspection instruments
