Required Skills
Job Description
If you are an enthusiastic professional interested in being part of a fast-growing company with strong engineering and research culture, we are looking for a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join the team and help us.
Disruptive mobility tech companies like Technica are driving the changes in electronics architecture that the industry needs to accelerate the arrival of the software-defined vehicle era. As hardware systems for the next generation of automotive connectivity and computing platforms grow denser, hotter and more complex, the mechanical engineering behind them — enclosures, thermal management, manufacturing — has become as decisive as the software running inside.
“The ideal candidate is curious to dig deep into mechanical and thermal challenges until those are fully resolved, thinks in product architecture but executes like a detail-oriented design engineer bringing precision into complexity through solid manufacturing data, and is a team player who is not afraid to challenge supplier constraints or push a design concept further than expected.”
MAIN FUNCTIONS
• Lead mechanical 3D design of electronic enclosures and product housings in SolidWorks, from initial concept to design freeze for several industrial manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, CNC machining, extrusion and injection moulding.
• Generate complete manufacturing data packages: 2D drawings, 3D STEP Data, SVG or Illustrator data for product labelling and assembly drawings with subsystem BOMs.
• Perform thermal simulations (Ansys ICEpack) for heat dissipation analysis of electronic assemblies and analyse state of the art thermal management strategies.
• Coordinate physical thermal tests: define test setup, instrument with thermocouples, execute test campaigns and produce test reports with conclusions and design recommendations.
• Lead mechanical integration of PCBs, connectors, SOMs and custom electronic assemblies, including tolerance studies and assembly feasibility analysis.
• Manage prototype build cycles: define requirements, coordinate with suppliers, receive and inspect samples, record issues and drive rework decisions.
• Manage mechanical component purchasing: identify standard components (fasteners, heatsinks, thermal interface materials), issue purchase requests and track delivery.
• Collaborate with the Business Development team to define visual content needs per product launch or trade shows and deliver assets within agreed timelines.
• Participate in trade shows preparation: 3D design of demo stands and setups, manufacturing coordination, and on-site assembly support when required.
• Manage relationships with sheet metal, CNC machining, extrusion, laser cutting and injection moulding suppliers: send RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate technical trade-offs and follow up on open POs.
• Lead design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews in collaboration with suppliers, identify production risks and drive design changes to resolve them.
• Participate in system architecture reviews and provide mechanical feasibility feedback at early project phases, before hardware freeze.
• Contribute to departmental process improvements: standardisation of assembly drawing formats, naming conventions, template libraries and documentation workflows.
• Generate accurate periodic reporting of project status and blocking points for internal team and customer communication.
WHAT WE OFFER
• Full flexibility to manage hybrid work model, depending on the tasks.
• Attractive professional career development in a truly cross-functional product team—where hardware and software come together, silos don’t exist, and everyone collaborates around a shared mission: building a better product, together.
• A strong engineering- and research-driven culture, with a clear commitment to reinvesting in innovation through new products and the continuous growth of our know-how.
• Be part of an environment where curiosity is valued, deep thinking is encouraged, and taking the time to truly understand a problem is seen not as a delay—but as a smart investment.
• Opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation in automotive industry within a company working as pure R&D partner for main worldwide OEMs.
• Opportunity to work in an international environment within a diverse team. International mobility options are available to discuss case-by-case.
• 30 working days as holidays, with full flexibility to manage them.
• Private health insurance.
• Regular team building activities with specific company budget.
• Opportunity to further expand your training, from personal abilities to technical areas.
