Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for total engineering work and is responsible for the coordination of
the designated project engineering work. The Mechanical Engineer is to assume the role of engineering
interface with the inter-departmental team and Product Design Manager (PDM) or Head of Engineering with
full responsibility for engineering deliverables and for the technical accuracy of the work. All work shall be
carried out in compliance with the Jord ISO system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure adherence to the approved and agreed budgeted estimate
• Attend the KOM, highlight any missing information or ambiguous issues to execute the project
• Create the VMDL, develop deliverable dates and status/es and ensure that all the documentation
associated with the project is completed and stored in the job repository
• Prepare design plans, estimation sheets, BOMs, MTOs, detailed drawings, erection drawings,
assemblies and layouts, technical reports, TDS, TPS, O&M and close out reports
• Ensure all necessary inputs are readily available for all draftsmen, checkers and engineers so that
they can proceed with their design work with minimum delay or without the need for rework
• Review all engineering documentation and designs prior to release to ensure compliance
• Ensure all incoming and outgoing documents are reviewed, actioned and properly controlled in the
database
• Ensure the check sheet system is followed
• Ensure any variations to the scope, design or drawings are captured in ECN’s, noted in the
engineering diary/estimate sheet and reported to the relevant personnel
• Assist Project Managers in formulating a cost analysis with justification in large variations
• Resolve engineering technical issues with the Project Manager
• Assist in resolving quality, fabrication, transportation, erection and commissioning issues as and
when they occur
• Be involved in checking as and when nominated by the Head of Engineering
• Coordinate outside design activities to ensure they are synchronised with in house design activities
• Coordinate directly with Vendors or through the Project Manager if needed for vendor data
information
• Ensure designs are validated
• Obtain third party design approval and registration
• Carry out root cause analysis for any event notes raised to engineering
• Adhere to all Jord company policies and IMS requirements
Skills and Experience:
• B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering along with at least 1 to 3 years of practical experience
• Ability to ensure the technical accuracy of the project design, procedure and sub-orders
• Knows all aspects of the product well and shall be a self-starter with minimum supervision
• Agree to and work in accordance to the overall project program
• Understands the critical path and the logic behind the optimal sequence of activities
• Possess hands on proficiency in Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office and Internet
• Ability to work cross functionally with team members at all levels across multiple departments
• Facilitates teamwork and possesses a positive attitude.
• Able to handle workload effectively and willing to take on more
• Identifies problems independently and resolves problems to prevent reoccurrence
• Works quickly and improves the Company’s current tools and systems.
