Mechanical Draftsperson (Fabrication & Manufacturing) - Work from home

The Draftsperson will support the design and drafting requirements of a growing fabrication environment, with a particular focus on producing accurate technical drawings for new workshop machinery and fabrication processes. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to prepare detailed step files and draft outputs for specialist manufacturing applications.

The position is suited to a detail-oriented drafting professional who can interpret technical requirements, prepare accurate production drawings, and support workshop operations as new machinery and capabilities are introduced.

• Prepare detailed step files and technical drawings for fabrication and workshop production requirements.
• Support drafting requirements associated with new workshop machinery, including tube bevel laser and flatbed laser equipment.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand machine-specific drawing requirements and output standards.
• Produce accurate drawings suitable for manufacturing, cutting, and workshop execution.
• Interpret technical specifications, dimensions, and production requirements to create clear drafting outputs.
• Update and revise drawings in line with feedback from workshop and project stakeholders.
• Maintain organised drawing files, revisions, and technical documentation.
• Ensure drafting outputs are accurate, practical, and aligned with workshop capabilities.
• Support continuous improvement of drafting templates, documentation standards, and production workflows.
• Liaise with operations and workshop teams to ensure drawings are fit for purpose and production ready.
• Other position-level duties as they arise.

Requirements:
• Tertiary qualification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred.
• 3–5+ years’ experience in drafting, technical drawing, or manufacturing documentation roles.
• Demonstrated experience preparing step files and production-ready technical drawings.
• Strong proficiency in relevant CAD and drafting software.
• Experience supporting fabrication, manufacturing, metalwork, or workshop environments.
• Ability to interpret technical dimensions, machine requirements, and production specifications accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Ability to manage revisions, file control, and structured documentation processes.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with workshop and operational teams.
• Experience supporting laser cutting, CNC, or sheet metal fabrication environments is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and respond to changing operational priorities.
