Location: Trenton, MI
Pay Rate: $19 – $29 per hour (based on experience) (Mechanic I, Mechanic II and Senior Mechanic
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (overtime and occasional weekends as needed)
Employment Type: Contract (long-term opportunity)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic II to work in a prototype vehicle environment. This is a hands-on role involving the modification, diagnostics, and repair of vehicles that are in development stages. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and the ability to work independently or in collaboration with a technical team.
Responsibilities:
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and modifications on cars and trucks in a prototype environment
• Follow repair orders, written instructions, and build procedures accurately
• Replace, install, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components
• Document all work performed, including service records and repair notes
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Operate and maintain shop equipment
• Assist with team-based projects as required
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an automotive mechanic
• Solid understanding of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems
• Ability to read and follow service instructions and documentation
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must provide own tools and rolling toolbox
• Comfortable working independently and in a team environment
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certificate or degree in Automotive Technology
• ASE certifications or State Mechanic Licenses
• Experience with alignments, A/C repairs, tire machines, or vehicle electronics
• Previous work on electric or hybrid vehicles is a plus
