Location: Warren, MI
Pay Range: $19 – $29 per hour (based on experience - Mechanic I, Mechanic II and Senior Mechanic)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (overtime and some weekends may be required)
Position Overview:
We are hiring a skilled Automotive Mechanic II to join a dynamic team supporting vehicle development and testing. This is a unique opportunity to perform detailed mechanical work on pre-production and prototype vehicles. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on mechanical expertise, the ability to follow technical instructions, and experience with diagnostics and system repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Modify, inspect, and maintain vehicles in a prototype shop environment
• Carry out repairs on both mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
• Interpret and complete work based on repair orders or verbal instructions
• Use proper documentation to track repairs, parts used, and service records
• Conduct regular inspections and report issues as needed
• Keep equipment in working order by following maintenance routines and safety protocols
• Participate in shop organization, cleanliness, and teamwork efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician or mechanic
• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair procedures, and mechanical systems
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have own set of tools and a rolling toolbox
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a team
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in Automotive Technology or related field
• ASE or State Mechanic certifications
• Previous experience with EV/hybrid systems, vehicle alignments, A/C repairs, and tire/wheel service equipment
• Familiarity with vehicle testing or prototype environments is a plus
