Material Manager - Guinea Local
Job Summary:
The Material manager will be responsible for managing the warehouse operations at the customer facility. This includes overseeing all material-related activities, such as forecasting, inventory management, procurement, and ensuring timely availability of materials for locomotive maintenance. The Material manager collaborate closely with material specialists and the technical team  to support efficient and effective project execution.
This role will be based in Guinea near the port of Morebaya. The operation is 24/7 running two 12-hour shifts.
 Accommodation will be provided at the maintenance facility.
Responsibilities:
Material Planning and Forecasting:
• Develop and maintain accurate forecasts for material requirements based on project schedules, repair plans, and historical data.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand material needs and ensure timely procurement to meet project timelines
• Continuously monitor market trends, industry developments, and customer demand to optimize material planning strategies
Inventory Management:
• Oversee inventory control and management, ensuring accurate stock levels and maximizing cost-effectiveness
• Develop and implement inventory optimization strategies, including setting reorder points, safety stock levels, and inventory replenishment (parts & reman) processes.
• Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
• MRP (e.g. Oracle) management inclusion of receiving, dispatching, NCRs and other related activities 
Warehouse Operations:
• Oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations, including material receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping.
• Implement and maintain efficient warehouse layout and organization to optimize space utilization and streamline material flow.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
Logistics:
• Facilitate movement of material between Guinea and other countries such as USA, India and South Africa.
• Implement and execute on customs clearance process in partnership with internal and external customs teams.
• Develop operational policies to improve efficiency and productivity in the supply chain.
 
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience in material planning and warehouse management may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Proven experience in material planning, forecasting, inventory management, and procurement within a manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance environment.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, inventory control methodologies, and warehouse management systems.
• Familiarity with forecasting techniques, demand planning, and inventory optimization strategies.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in using computer systems and software applications (MS Office and ERP Systems) for material planning, inventory management, and procurement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team, foster a positive work environment, and drive results.
• Must be a Guinean National fluent in French and English. Mandarin will be an added advantage.
