Job Description

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Material/Geotechnical Technician/Technologist to join our Team. GEMTEC currently has openings for a Materials/Geotechnical Technician/Technologist in our Saint John, NB office location. 

The ideal candidates will have experience in general construction activities, with materials testing and inspection experience considered an asset.

 Educational & Experience Requirements:

College Level Diploma in Civil Engineering Technician.

Two years experience in civil construction.

Experience with materials testing and inspection.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong multi-tasking, organization, and planning skills.

Possess ability to lift 30-50 lbs routinely as required.

 Main Duties:

Laboratory testing of aggregates, soils, concrete and asphalt.

Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.

Various office, laboratory and field tasks related to materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.

Conduct construction surveys to support engineering projects.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate project activities and deliverables.

Communicate project updates, milestones, and potential issues to clients in a clear and professional manner.

Other duties as required.

Position:

Seasonal and term positions are available.

Must have a valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for work related travel.
