Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a full-time Materials and Process Technology Engineer – Composites (Production Program Support) (Mid-level or senior) specializing in composite fabrication, assembly and bonding, as well as supplier qualification support, to join our team located at the Boeing facility in Berkeley, MO.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad level of experience including mid-level and senior M&P engineers.
The position offers a wide variety tasks and responsibilities including specification authoring and maintenance, and support to Boeing Defense production aircraft programs at the St. Louis, Missouri site (F/A-18, F-15, MQ-25) for composites fabrication and bonding. Additionally, this position will also provide composites support to spares and legacy programs. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with internal and external suppliers regarding composite part and process specification qualifications, material authorization, specification authoring and revision, and non-conformance support.
Position Responsibilities:
• Author and revise material or process specifications
• Specification of composite materials, resin systems and adhesives for aircraft usage
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, structural engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality engineers, to ensure successful project execution
• Qualification of suppliers to composites fabrication, assembly and bonding processes to internal specifications
• Interface with government, external and internal customers
• Support non-conformances, fleet impact assessments, notice of escapees
• Lead material and fabrication development of controlled surface re-design effort
• Develop and implement earned value management techniques to monitor project progress and ensure timely completion.
• Manage composite materials development, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for a structural re-design effort
• Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Berkeley, MO site.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 5+ years’ Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• 9+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 14+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Material Science
• Experience with aerospace composite materials, assembly, fabrication, bonding
• Experience with aerospace process and material specifications
• Experience in earned value management and project management
• Experience with adhesive materials (such as epoxy, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, etc) and processes.
• Experience with composites / elastomers and the associated processing and fabrication techniques
• Experience with composite and elastomer failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and analysis for materials, processes and parts.
• Experience reading/interpreting engineering drawings
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)

Level 3:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 4:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
