The Material Handler plays a pivotal role within our logistics team whose responsibility is to supply the production teams with key materials required for our global manufacturing and distribution efforts. This position is crucial for enhancing and maintaining our production cycle, thereby meeting our customer satisfaction needs and on-time-delivery metrics. The primary duties for this position is moving and stocking hardware material within the warehouse.
This position is a 6-month contract with the opportunity for extension or permanent employment based out of Scarborough, Ontario.
In addition to annual initiatives, the key responsibilities are as follows:
Key Accountabilities:
Moving and stocking hardware material to and from various production departments
Regularly relaying information to the Manager, Materials & Logistics or other Team Lead
Receiving, and order-picking as required
Overseeing and maintaining parts, materials, and other equipment while moving throughout warehouse areas
Performing receiving and order-picking data-entry transactions, using a Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) software and hand-scanner
Data entry of basic addition and subtraction calculations in Microsoft Excel or similar program
Adhering to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
All other duties as may be assigned
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
High-school education, or equivalent
1-2 years’ experience in material handling and/or inventory control
Minimum 1-year experience working in an industrial environment preferred
Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel formulas for addition and subtraction
Great verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work well independently while part of a team
Excellent attention to detail
Strong work ethic and a sense of urgency working in a time-sensitive environment
Computer-savvy and experience with data entry
Ability to communicate authentically in all interactions
