Job Summary
The Material Handler II position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) will be a vital member of the Material Handling Department. The position supports production activities by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies and assisting with organizing and maintaining existing inventory. The ideal candidate for the material handler position is a diligent worker who can complete tasks successfully with little to no guidance.
Key Responsibilities Include
Prepping, organizing, and staging various manufacturing departments with materials necessary to maintain production
Respond to calls from various departments to assist in material transportation
Performing inventory counts
Investigating and analyzing ERP to stage incoming material where needed
Running reports in ERP to prepare for and stay ahead of material needs
Investigate and determine root cause of inventory discrepancies and make suggestions for correction to leadership
Meticulously organize parts and pallets of parts with part numbers, heat numbers, and job numbers, as appropriate
Fill in as back up for all Material Handlers and proficient in their various advanced tasks; moving plate packs, issuing plate pack material, issue saw material and transacting drops, kitting for Assembly, complying with traceability requirements (heat numbers, PO Tracking, etc.) in an organized manner, kitting in Yard 6 in an organized manner, allocating, labeling, and staging Sales Order lines, etc.
Self-motivated and aware of department's workloads and needs and willing to move between roles in times of workload spikes to assist, as needed.
Thorough reviewing dashboard and discussions with Supervisor, prioritize work with little guidance.
Fill in for other Material Handlers
Proactively communicate with Supervisor and different departments, as needed, to facilitate work moving through the department(s)
Maintain an organized work environment with jobs kitted in an efficient manner and readily available/understandable
Proven initiative in keeping work area, back pad, and yard 6 clean (no trash, wood, or lose job travelers) and organized
Proven compliance in heat number tracking
Proactive communication of slow moving/obsolescent inventory
Required Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of 5 years of material handling
Must possess a minimum of 5 years of forklift driving experience
Strong background in inventory transactions with high attention to detail
Desire to learn and to continue developing knowledge and skills
Forklift certification
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
