Match Day Technician - Livadia

Daily Rate: €120.00

What The Role Is All About:

We are recruiting to fill Match Day Technician roles within our operations in Greek Football. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of sports technology as part of a dedicated and dynamic team. 

The role involves the setup and operation of our systems on-site at football stadiums throughout Greece for the Greek Super League.

Working day expectations:

• Arrival up to 4 hours pre-Kick Off

• End of day, up to 1 hour post-game completion

• There are also varied needs during the setup day/s, which may require the consultants to be present on the day/s before match day.

• The role requires the consultant to be flexible with work hours, depending on the needs of the onsite team 

We are looking for committed and passionate people who are willing and able to commit to all Super League matches in the given stadiums. This is in order to provide the team with consistency throughout the competitions. Please consider that this work will be mainly during weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

It is important to note that Match Day Technicians have various responsibilities and play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the services :

• Working with the Semi-Automatic Offside Team Lead to set up the system

• Lineup cameras (likely to include working at height, on ladders and on stadium catwalks)

• Coordinate with the SAO (Semi-Automatic Offside) Team Lead to troubleshoot any issues with hardware or software

• Set up / Operate the Referee Review Area Monitor (RRA)

• Run cabling

• Test the functionality of the RRA monitor and backup systems

• Troubleshoot issues with the hardware and associated software

• Monitor the pitch-side systems during the match

• Set up the audio system

• Run cabling

• Test the audio units 

• Troubleshoot issues with the hardware and associated software

• Interact professionally with the Match Officials who will be using the audio system during the game

Other Responsibilities:

• Contribute as part of the team setting up the VAR system (Video Assistant Referee) 

• Conducting pre-match checks of the systems in accordance with standard procedures

• Liaising with football officials, stadium/club personnel and host broadcasters both on-site and remotely

• Monitoring and operating the system during the match

• Organising your logistics for travelling between stadium locations as and when required

• Able to adapt to flexible working conditions with irregular working hours

There are some preferred skills and experiences:

• A technical background, ideally in IT or Broadcast

• An interest in sports and/or sports analysis, ideally with a good knowledge of football and the rules of the game

• Experience working with VT/replay technology is desirable, or live event / technical production

• Keen for potential local travel on very rare occasions

• A driving licence is preferred

What Difficulties Might I Face?

Up to this point, I’m sure there have been many things that you find intriguing about the role, however, there can be difficult times:

Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there will be work on weekend evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the last minute. 

High-Pressure Situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed to millions worldwide will bring high levels of pressure. 

All of these factors offer different challenges daily as an operator. We will do all that we can to train you and support you to the best possible level, but these challenges must be considered before submitting your application.
