SUMMER JOB OPENING
Maryknoll & Sunset Manager on Duty
Do you want a summer job that will help you develop leadership skills, cash handling, and build your resume? This position provides opportunities to hone customer service practices, learn management abilities, and begin developing accounting skills.
If you like variety, this will be great because you’ll be working at two of our popular summer facilities performing a variety of job duties. Plus, we’ve added lots of extra perks this summer!
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Special Facilities Manager, the Maryknoll Park Manager on Duty (MOD) is responsible for assisting with daily operations, ensuring quality customer service, and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies. Primary duties include: supervising front desk/concessions operations, monitoring and ensuring proper cash handling protocols and addressing POS issues, completing bank deposits and monthly financial reports, overseeing food handling, stocking and inventory of food products and supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patrons to enjoy. Other duties include but not limited to, opening and closing of the mini-golf course and splash pad, assisting with staff schedules and training, reporting maintenance and/or other issues to Special Facilities Manager, and assisting staff with food preparation and facility cleaning. This is an at-will position.
Season Dates: April 24 – October 25
Orientation Dates: Starting in Mid-April with details to follow.
Hours: Shifts vary (operational hours are 7am-10pm) including weekdays and weekends
Location: 845 Pershing Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 and 483 Fairview Ave., Glen Ellyn
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who is self-motivated and service oriented.
Previous customer service and cash handling experience is required.
Prior experience working at this facility or a similar position is an advantage.
Previous leadership and/or supervisory experience is a plus.
Strong and effective communication skills with the ability and desire to provide quality customer service is essential with the capacity to remain calm in stressful situations.
High school diploma or equivalent required with college coursework or degree preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to think on your feet is important.
A quick learner with very good computer skills and aptitude to learn complex systems.
Capacity to work independently, collaborate with others, and promote teamwork are essential.
Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays with availability from Memorial Day through October.
Must obtain an Illinois Food Handler certification within 30 days of hire.
Must be in good physical condition to perform manual labor and be on your feet for extended periods of time and work in various weather conditions including high heat and humidity.
PLEASE NOTE: Expectation is that you will be available for the entire season with a limit of one week of absence for a scheduled family vacation or similar that should be discussed at time of hire. Various shift options are available and can be discussed during the interview process.
