How You’ll Make a Difference:
Digital Channel Implementation
Update and maintain website content using the organization’s content management system (e.g., WordPress), ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Prepare and distribute email newsletters using approved templates and branding guidelines.
Draft, schedule, and publish social media content under guidance from senior team members.
Monitor digital channels for engagement, inquiries, and potential issues; escalate sensitive or high-profile matters as required.
Track basic digital performance metrics (e.g., open rates, engagement, website traffic) and compile reports as requested.
Support implementation of SEO practices and Google Ads/Google Grants activities as directed.
Content Development & Storytelling Support
Draft clear, accessible content promoting programs and services, particularly Settlement initiatives.
Support the development of client stories, testimonials, and staff profiles.
Translate program information into plain-language content suitable for diverse audiences.
Adapt approved content for use across web, email, social media, print, and video formats.
Ensure materials align with organizational branding standards and reflect commitments to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Assist with photography, video capture, and basic editing for communications purposes. Maintain organized digital asset libraries, including photos, videos, and graphics.
Media & External Communications Support
Assist in responding to media inquiries in coordination with the Director or designated spokesperson.
Monitor media coverage and share relevant items with the communications team.
Maintain and regularly update media contact lists.
Stakeholder Communications & Contact Management
Maintain accurate and organized contact databases, including media, donors, fundraising partners, and government representatives.
Support distribution of communications to donors, partners, and government contacts.
Assist in preparing materials for funder updates and briefings.
Ensure contact information is current and compliant with privacy and organizational policies.
Events & Technical Coordination
Set up and support virtual meetings, webinars, and hybrid events using approved platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
Provide technical support during online events.
Assist with communications logistics and promotions for internal and external events.
Administrative & Vendor Support
Coordinate with external vendors (e.g., designers, translators, printers, web developers) and partners as assigned.
Support formatting, proofreading, translation coordination, and quality control of communications materials.
Assist with invoice tracking and administrative documentation related to communications vendors.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Minimum Diploma or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field and 2–3 years of experience in communications, digital marketing, or content development roles OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience managing website content using a CMS (e.g., WordPress).
Experience drafting newsletters, social media posts, and web content. Experience with Google Ad Words, Google Grants and Meta ads.
Demonstrated storytelling ability across written and digital formats.
Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Kapwing, Synthesia or similar).
Experience maintaining key contact databases.
Ability to write for audiences with diverse language and digital literacy levels.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience working in the non-profit or community sector is an asset.
Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
Ability to obtain and maintain a clear provincial Criminal Record Check.

ISSofBC Value Proposition
Expected Hiring Range: $24.62- $34.50 *Dependent on education, training, experience, and internal equity. *Wage grids are reviewed annually. We are a proud and certified Living Wage BC Employer. Our current total compensation package continues to meet the requirements of living wages in BC to support our employees.
105 hours of vacation and 35 hours of personal leave (prorated).
