The Defense segment within our Aramids business is an exciting business focused on personal protection for military and law enforcement personnel by providing innovative materials used in soft body armor, hard body armor (helmets & plates) and vehicle armoring. The needs and expectations of personal protective equipment for military and law enforcement personnel continues to change to increase comfort while improving protection and performance of the wearer. We have great brands used to promote our innovative products including Kevlar®, Tensylon® and our latest innovation Kevlar® EXO™. Kevlar® EXO™ is a next generation aramid fiber technology launched in 2023 and is the cornerstone of our growth in Kevlar®. The Defense segment is a growth segment with the expectation of investment in key initiatives for sustainable growth across all product lines but a specific focus on using Kevlar® EXO™ in new products and applications to solve the most difficult challenging is the protection and performance of military and law enforcement personnel.
Role Summary
The Market Development Leader – Soft Body Armor is responsible for driving the Kevlar® EXO™ growth initiatives consistent with the overall strategy. These growth initiatives include expanding to new verticals, business models, and expanding the Kevlar® EXO™ product portfolio. The role may also be the business lead on major growth initiatives and programs where leveraged project resources are required to execute a complex project. Executes market assessments and phase 1 (scouting) execution for future growth initiatives. Where needed, drives the integrated growth plans for the segment. Performance measured based on the delivery of specified growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Portfolio Management
Drives and manages existing soft body armor portfolio of initiatives and growth initiatives consistent with the global Defense strategy
Identifies, assesses, and generates new business opportunities in current and adjacent markets aligned with overall market strategy
Executes specific prioritized growth programs/initiatives in the regions & globally
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Leads cross functional project teams to execute targeted growth initiatives
Work collaboratively with Marketing, Technical, and Sales Leadership to drive innovation and execution.
Drives speedy execution of growth projects with a cross-functional team (sales, Marketing, Technology, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, etc.)
With the Global Market Leader and the Regional Market Leaders, provides the integration of the cross-functional segment team, and where needed, for the segment in a region
Customer / Market Focus
Learn about the markets we serve and the problems our customers are trying to solve to drive our portfolio / projects / promotion
Engage customers to learn how / where our products are used to ensure we can validate the value proposition of our new portfolio
Develop promotional content and tools using the customer /market understanding to support the regional teams in achieving the growth targets
Qualifications & Skills
Experience in ballistics and/or the personal protection market is preferred
Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or Business.
Self-managing project management capabilities
Proven ability to drive execution through a cross-functional team
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong Microsoft 360 skills
Strong customer-centric mindset and ability to develop tailored solutions.
Excellent written and oral English.
Low/Medium travel (10-25%)
Within commuting distance of Meyrin, Switzerland.
