River Valley in Rochester is hiring a Marine Buyer & Consignment Specialist—someone who truly knows boats, understands market value, and can confidently talk shop with real boat owners.
This is not an entry-level role and not a desk-only job. This position is built for someone with hands-on marine knowledge who can independently evaluate boats, negotiate with private sellers, and build trust face-to-face. About the Role
You’ll be responsible for sourcing, buying, consigning, and selling used boats through a mix of:
Facebook Marketplace & Messenger
Direct seller and buyer interaction
Incoming web leads generated by River Valley’s strong online presence
Referral and repeat-customer leads driven by 30+ years of business in the marine industry
Knowing boats is not optional—it’s critical to your success and directly tied to your earning potential.
River Valley is a Top 10 Marine Dealer in North America, representing leading boat manufacturers across the industry. You’ll help build and manage a high-margin used boat and consignment pipeline while representing a trusted, family-owned dealership that invests in long-term careers.

Schedule
Monday–Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (rotating)
When you work a Saturday, you receive a weekday off
Compensation
Base wage plus performance-based incentives
Total annual earnings: $75,000–$95,000+ (uncapped for strong performers)
Key Responsibilities
Source and acquire quality used boats from private sellers
Build and manage profitable boat consignment inventory
Accurately evaluate boat condition, value, and market pricing
Sell used and consigned boats via Facebook Marketplace and Messenger
Sell boats within our product lines during shows, events, and as needed on the sales floor
Communicate directly with sellers and buyers to build trust and close deals
Maximize front-end gross profit and inventory turn speed
Maintain a clean, professional showroom and lot environment
Follow dealership sales processes, policies, and procedures
Manage contracts, titles, and documentation accurately
Work closely with the Sales Manager and attend sales meetings
Stay late when customer flow requires it—boats don’t always sell on a schedule
Required Qualifications
Strong working knowledge of boats is essential
(models, conditions, values, and real-world adjustments)
Ability to work independently with daily performance expectations
Comfortable meeting customers in person and earning their trust
Strong negotiation skills with private-party sellers and buyers
Detail-oriented with paperwork, titles, and contracts
High comfort level using Facebook Marketplace and Messenger
Reliable, self-motivated, and driven by results
Preferred Experience
Marine technician, boat sales, brokerage, or dealership experience
Experience with Lightspeed, DP360, or Microsoft Excel
