EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Marine and Maintenance Lead
Term: Full-time (up to 35 hrs./week)
Salary Range: $25 - $30 (Depending on education and experience)
Whitefish River First Nation is seeking a skilled and motivated Seasonal Marine and Maintenance Lead to oversee daily marine operations and general facility maintenance during our peak season. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys working outdoors, managing small teams, and ensuring safe, smooth, and reliable operations across our marine and grounds environment.
Coordinating with the Camp Operations Supervisor, the Marine and Maintenance Lead oversees all physical operations, maintenance activities, marina services, and groundskeeping functions at Hilly Acres Camp & Trailer Park and Rainbow Lodge. This hands‑on role is responsible for ensuring facilities, docks, waterfront assets, parking, and public areas. The Lead supports outstanding guest experiences through effective maintenance, responsive service, and proactive hazard prevention.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2–4 years of experience in maintenance, marina operations, campground/lodge operations, or related outdoor work.
Mechanical aptitude and experience with tools, small engines, and basic repairs.
Strong customer service skills and ability to interact positively with guests.
Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and a friendly and professional demeanor.
Ability to collaborate with diverse staff and guests and effectively manage multiple priorities.
ADDITIONAL ASSETS:
Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).
First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and Health & Safety Protocol training.
Small engine repair experience.
Experience working with First Nations communities and knowledge of Anishinaabemowin considered an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Outdoor and physical work environment with exposure to all weather.
High seasonal demands (summer peak) require evening/weekend work.
On-call responsibilities during operating season.
Operation of power tools, landscaping equipment, and small engines with appropriate PPE.
Travel between two operational sites is required.
