Manual Machinist
Indianapolis, IN
A stable and growing industrial manufacturer specializing in pumping and fluid handling systems is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join its team. This is a hands-on role focused on precision machining of critical components used in chemical, wastewater, and industrial applications.
Position Overview:
• Direct hire opportunity
• Pay: $26–$28/hour
• Full-time, approximately 40 hours/week
• Day shift preferred
• Hands-on role focused on manual machining (mills and lathes)
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate manual mills and lathes
• Machine high-precision components with tight tolerances
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
• Maintain production quality and accurate records
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Support and mentor junior machinists as needed
Qualifications:
• Previous manual machining experience
• Strong setup experience (not operator-level)
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T
• Skilled with precision measurement tools
• High school diploma required; technical/trade training preferred
