Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mechanics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Essential Function/Responsibilities:
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical principles and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Machine parts to specifications using machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variants to perform precision machining operations.
Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Ability to operate a manual machine (X & Z axles "truing-up" and use of back, roller, and steady rest.
Assist the department manager with the adherence to the requirements of the API Q1 specifications and SBES drawings.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, and/or Experience:
6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training.
API knowledge is preferred but not required.
Must be able to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
Must possess basic computer skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
