About the Role
Fivetran is building open data infrastructure for thousands of companies helping them realize the value of their data. We’re looking for a Manager, Commercial Sales Engineering to lead a team of technically minded Sales Engineers who drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth in our North American market. In this role, you will manage a team of Sales Engineers specializing in high-velocity technical sales. You will not only coach your team to excellence but also partner deeply with Commercial Sales Directors and Account Managers to optimize strategies that maximize revenue.
This is a strategic role where you will adopt the Fivetran playbook, manage deal volume, and develop deep relationships with our technology partners (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) to accelerate market share capture. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical excellence of your team by reviewing opportunities, contributing to architectural designs, and serving as a "talent academy" that develops raw potential into world-class Sales Engineers.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

What You’ll Do
• Interview, hire, and onboard top-tier Sales Engineering talent, with a focus on identifying high-potential candidates who can ramp quickly.
• Coach your team members to maximize performance, achieve the "technical win" at scale, and prepare them for future career advancement.
• Partner with Commercial Sales Leadership to align on strategy, forecast technical wins, and drive structured execution and revenue growth.
• Serve as an escalation point for key deals, helping triage resources and ensuring smooth prospect engagements during high volume periods.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to prioritize enhancements based on market feedback from the Commercial segment.
• Develop relationships with partner ecosystem stakeholders (e.g., SI partners, Cloud alliances) to drive joint success.
• Ensure the team maintains deep technical expertise in Fivetran technologies and the domains in which we play while adhering to standard, repeatable demo flows.
• Analyze team data to drive continuous forecast improvement and operational efficiency.
Skills We’re Looking For
• Experience in Sales Engineering as a Manager or Team Lead in a SaaS business.
• Proven ability to lead, hire, and develop a team of technically-minded direct reports.
• Strong technical acumen in databases, replication, cloud data warehousing, transformations and the data domain at large.
• Best-in-class communication skills, with the ability to present complex solutions to C-level executives.
• A "coach-first" mentality with a passion for developing people—you enjoy finding and coaching raw talent into tactical expertise.
• Experience collaborating with Sales Directors to mutually drive successful sales outcomes.
• Ability to thrive in a high-growth environment and adjust quickly to changing priorities.

Oakland Pay Range
$161,564—$201,955 USD
