Manager, Safety Clearance Program Management

Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities and safely deploy such a robotaxi solution. The System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team plays a foundational role in the company's success, responsible for constructing the safety case and fail-operational design for our autonomous driving robots before public road deployment. In this role, you will::
• Oversee and manage the end-to-end SDMA clearance process, ensuring all program stages are executed efficiently while ensuring scalable and robust processes are implemented as the company expands

• Lead a team of Technical Program Managers, providing guidance and support for multiple concurrent clearance programs, including live service, early milestone, and clearance

• Develop and drive program schedules, milestones, and deliverables related to the safety and clearance of our autonomous robotaxi

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all clearance-related activities, facilitating communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams

• Define and manage the scope and timeline for the various clearance activities, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to the clearance programs while managing dependencies across various teams

• Report on program status, risks, and progress to senior leadership, ensuring alignment on priorities and timelines

Qualifications:
• At least 8 years of experience in technical program management, with a proven track record of shipping complex, safety-critical systems

• Experience managing and leading teams of program managers or technical leads

• BS or MS in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience

• Comprehensive knowledge of complex hardware and software development lifecycles

• Experience in program management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet

Bonus Qualifications:
• Experience with automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 or other safety-related standards (e.g., IEC 61508, DO-178C)

• Experience in the autonomous vehicle industry

• Familiarity with systems engineering and requirements management
