• Mentoring and development programs – receive support to progress your career

Our Tax team are looking for a Research & Development Tax Manager to join their Auckland office.

The team you’ll join:

When joining the Auckland Research and Development team, you will be a part of a thriving, high-performing team within a supportive environment that’s committed to providing a world class service to all our clients.

The R&D Tax Incentive is a recently introduced government measure to encourage businesses undertaking R&D, and ultimately to increase Aotearoa’s business investment in R&D. As an R&D Tax Manager, you will be responsible for assisting our clients with their R&D Tax Incentive claims.

You will work with clients to deliver R&D incentive services, with the ability to seamlessly manage and support on several engagements concurrently.

The impact you’ll make:

As a Manager you will support our clients on how their research and development work can access government support. Your typical day will include:

• Interviewing technical client staff to identify their research and development projects
• Being a trusted advisor to clients, and potential clients, in the R&D space
• Assisting in the writing of reports that summarise client research and development efforts and creating R&D costing models, while meeting statutory deadlines
• Supporting project teams to present Deloitte’s service offerings to clients, onboarding their work as appropriate, and delivering key pieces of work
• Reviewing the work of junior team members and coaching them to build their skills and further contribute to client deliverables
• Being a role model for our people and clients and recognising others for the impact they make by their valued contributions
• Being an active participant in the local market, identifying opportunities to add value and providing insightful recommendations to clients

Your expertise:

Bring your knowledge of R&D environments and see what impact you can make. You’ll also have:

• A professional qualification in engineering, technology, science, law or accounting
• 4+ years’ work experience in a consulting firm or industry
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with client technical staff
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen interest in innovation
• An understanding of how costs are allocated to R&D activities
• A results driven attitude and client oriented

Making an impact that matters, together:

We are driven by our desire to create positive outcomes for our clients, communities, and people. Everything we do is with intent - the intent to make a meaningful difference.

Our shared values are at the heart of everything we do. How you’ll be rewarded:

We hold a simple belief – that our people’s hard work should be recognised and rewarded beyond their remuneration. The Deloitte experience is founded on concepts of trust, balance, wellbeing and the importance of personal connection.

We offer you:

• Flexible work arrangements – work in a way that suits you, us and our clients best
• Subsidised professional qualifications and paid professional memberships
• Subsidised health insurance
• Income protection insurance
• 22 days annual leave
• Social events, social sports teams, and monthly firm drinks
• A focus on wellness and well-being
• Community focused volunteer days
• A focus on the environment and sustainability
• Plus much more
