OVERVIEW
The role is a key contributor within the BIA Program Reporting and Analysis team under the umbrella of the Finance department, where new business ideas and partnerships are incubated and scaled. The Manager, Reporting and Analysis - Western Programs will focus on providing visibility and insights for recycling-related cost modelling, insights development, and fee setting primarily through Business Intelligence tools like Power BI, Python, ML and AI. This will involve the creation and management of data models, the development of formal processes, and the support of other tools to optimize business operations. This role will be involved in strategic projects and work closely with business stakeholders, using data to identify and translate business needs and opportunities into actional initiatives. The candidate will report directly to the Director, Reporting and Analysis - Western Programs.
This is a salary paid position, requiring residency in Canada, with occasional visits to the Toronto office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement control enhancements through new operational processes.
Lead external audits and/or regulatory requests from third parties by collecting and amalgamating information or performing calculations with raw data as required.
Ad-hoc tasks as directed by management to support organizational needs.
Champion a team by leading them through a transition and provide technical and business support
Assess existing manual program reporting and operational processes and drive automation initiatives; quantify and communicate efficiency and time savings achieved through modernization.
Translate producer, supply chain and other internal/external data into analytical projects (to include refining the models and asking the ‘right questions’)
Integrate and analyze data from multiple data warehouses and operational systems to deliver statistically sound analysis and clear insights to a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Proactively identify opportunities within each program to provide additional insights for the wider business
Drive new analytical initiatives aimed at improving program efficiency, scalability, and outcomes in support of a circular economy.
Identify, support, and lead projects aimed at scaling up the way the recycling organization leverages on data, insights, and intelligence.
Design champion / challenger strategies that lead to ongoing learning and improvement
Ad-hoc tasks as directed by management to support organizational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree Business or a quantitative subject (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering, science, economics, or finance)
CPA designation preferred
An equivalent combination of education, and experiences may be considered.
Experience
7+ years of experience in progressive reporting, analytics, or business intelligence roles
3+ years of experience leading reporting functions and managing analysts
Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Direct experience with BI & analytics tools (Python, SQL, Amazon RedShift or PowerBI)
Strong experience in finding data insights and provide business recommendation to the business.
Preferred knowledge of SAP
Knowledge/Competencies/Skills
Preference for experience accounting or supply chain management role
Proven experience leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
Strong communication and organizational skills
Analytical mindset that is able to handle advanced modelling exercises
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and deadlines
Good stakeholder management experience, comfortable presenting to senior leadership teams
Good understanding of statistical modelling knowledge or any machine learning technique knowledge is a plus (regression, logistic regression, random forest, etc.)
A hacker’s mindset – the ability to build simple but clever and elegant solutions to opportunities while using creative problem-solving automation, programming, and prototyping.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and the ability to communicate and apply AI technologies effectively within a business context.
WORKING CONDITIONS
All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a home office environment.
This role requires occasional work in the Toronto head office.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
Expected Compensation:
An annual base salary in the range of $90,000 to $110,000.
The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role. The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
