Location of position:   Convertor Plant (Rustenburg)
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Safety: Create a safety culture through productive and authorized operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a risk-controlled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
Performance and Delivery
Work is of an operational nature – mainly production management work in the plant, coordinating works being done. Interacts with other functions to get the production process running smoothly. Coordinates input from all over and ensure material and deliverables are available on time for the smooth running of the plant. Responsible for several aspects of the production process e.g. safety, production targets, cost management, people management etc. Involved in continuous improvement initiatives and implementing initiatives.
• Provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health of the employees in compliance to regulations
• Provide and maintain systems of work, plant, and machinery that are safe and without risk for employees to achieve production targets
• Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health, safety, and risk management standards and best practices
• Submit inputs to the Smelter’s business plan
• Ensure the correct resources are available to deliver on targets
• Manage the production process safely, efficiently and cost-effectively to meet targets
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Drive and be accountable for continuous improvement and asset optimization initiatives
• Manage the people in the team i.e. career development, competence improvement, performance management
• Implement identified asset optimization and technical initiative projects.
• Support the overall management of the Operation
People & Teams
• Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes.
Compliance
• Develop required compliance governance in the context of discipline on a business level.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements.
This role is at a Band 5 level reporting to the Process GM - Smelting
• Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy degree
Experience
• At least ten years post graduate qualification experience relevant for the role
Technical Knowledge and Skills
• Good technical ability
• Knowledge of the best utilisation/business applications of management and plant processing
• Experience in Project Management
• Commissioning of Processing plants
• Application of Process Safety management
• Ability to operate independently
• Experience in Pyrometallurgy
