Hybrid Job: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.
Make a difference
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Content Strategy, this position leads a team that is responsible for managing corporate communications channels, producing corporate communications products and events, and maintaining editorial, design, quality control, visual identity and accessible communications standards for all employee communications. The position oversees the development, management and continuous improvement of tools, templates and practices that support effective and timely communications about Toronto Community Housing’s mission, vision, values, and corporate goals and priorities to staff.
What you’ll do
Manages corporate communications channels and products
Manages and oversees print, electronic, and face-to-face channels and products to deliver communications to employees of Toronto Community Housing
Leads the development of strategies to maximize the use and effectiveness of corporate communications channels and products
Manages and oversees content for the company’s intranet site
Provides strategic communications counsel to, and manages relationships with, the President and CEO, executive leadership team and senior managers, on corporate communications channels and products
Monitors, measures and assesses the effectiveness of TCHC’s communications channels, vehicles and products
Oversees planning and production of corporate communications vehicles
Manages the production of newsletters, reports and electronic publications for staff, tenant, stakeholder and broader public audiences
Manages the creation of communications tools and templates to promote clear, effective, and timely corporate communications
Manages planning and implementation of all-staff meetings and senior management events
Manages strategic and corporate communications services
Provides strategic communications planning and management services at the direction of the Director to support TCHC’s strategic communications needs as required
Manages the provision of professional corporate communication services, including writing and editing, translation and interpretation, graphic design, desktop publishing, web design, and production services, by an in-house team and by outside service providers as required
Manages corporate communications standards
Upholds editorial, plain language, clear design and visual identity/branding standards; translation and interpretation standards; and accessible communications standards and commitments of Toronto Community Housing
Manages the Corporate Communications team
Provides leadership to and manages the team
Establishes and implements practices for the team
Manages human resources for the team, including hiring, managing performance, supporting staff, and handling discipline
Develops measurement tools to assess effectiveness of communications strategies and tactics developed by the team
Provides input into the annual Strategic Communications budget and work plan
Other duties as assigned
As assigned by the Director, provides communications management services on special projects to address urgent operational needs or corporate priorities
May be required to perform the duties of the Director, as assigned during his or her absence
May be required to act in the duties of other Strategic Communications managers as assigned during their absence
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree and post-graduate certificate in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Communications Studies, Marketing, Journalism or liberal arts (or other relevant program)
Eight (8) years in the field of corporate communications, public relations, business writing, marketing communications or related fields, with at least two years of experience managing direct reports.
Strong corporate communications experience in a complex environment
Highly skilled at identifying and analyzing corporate communications opportunities and risks
Demonstrated ability to analyze information, anticipate problems and opportunities, create and evaluate alternative solutions and make appropriate decisions and recommendations
Demonstrated ability to network and build effective working relationships with executives, senior management, stakeholders and partners, and peers
Highly skilled at writing, editing and producing corporate communications products (e.g., annual reports, newsletters, web copy, information articles)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver expected outcomes
Good working knowledge of MS Office, Windows (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite.
Good working knowledge of web analytics
