Team Summary

The Business and Strategy Analytics team is part of the Intelligence and Data Solutions organisation, partnering with the Asia Pacific Regional President’s Office to enable Visa’s internal business units to optimise performance and profitability through data-driven decisions. We provide management intelligence to democratise insights across the organisation and deliver strategic analytics to identify opportunities, uncover key payment trends, and shape the future of payments.

What a Manager, Data Engineer - Digital Sales does at Visa:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to design and implement robust data integration solutions that enable advanced analytics and decision-making. This role focuses on creating secure, scalable frameworks for ingesting and processing external data, with an emphasis on unstructured, text-based information.

• Design and implement APIs to integrate external data sources into Visa’s internal systems.
• Architect scalable data pipelines for unstructured text data, ensuring security and compliance.
• Lead data initiatives end-to-end, including requirement clarification, solution design, and phased delivery from build and testing through production rollout, with accountability for timelines, quality, and stakeholder outcomes.
• Lead hypothesis-driven data exploration and metrics design, partnering with business and analytics stakeholders to define decision frameworks, success measures, and analytical questions that inform data models and platform capabilities.
• Act as a primary technical owner for key data assets and pipelines, ensuring operational stability, observability, documentation, automation, and continuous optimisation.
• Partner closely with business stakeholders to shape solution roadmaps, prioritise enhancements, and translate evolving market intelligence needs into sustainable, reusable data platform capabilities.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building future-ready data architecture that powers segmentation, predictive insights, and campaign orchestration—helping shape Visa’s growth strategy across APAC.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.  ​

• 8 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles.
• Strong hands-on experience in Python and SQL for data processing and automation.
• Practical experience designing and consuming REST APIs, including JSON/XML data handling.
• Working knowledge of modern data platforms (cloud-based data lakes/warehouses, Spark).
• Experience supporting analytics use cases such as dashboards, segmentation, and performance reporting.
• Understanding of data governance, quality, and security best practices.
• Strong client relationship and presentation skills
• Ability to manage cross-functional relationships and resources
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset
• Keen interest in innovation and emerging technologies
• Bachelors degree or equivalent required

What will also help:

• Exposure to unstructured or semi-structured data and basic NLP techniques.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience working with sales, marketing, or commercial data domains.
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
