Manager Customs and Foreign Trade Operations EU-1

Within the GEA organization, a new EU Center of Customs and Foreign Trade Operations will be established. The aim of this Center is to support customs operations and handling for GEA EU-wide. Therewith, GEA is looking for suitable candidates which will contribute within an expert team to the compliant handling of customs and foreign trade operations within EU.

Responsibilities / Tasks

Your Role:

You will form part of a central European expert team that is collectively responsible for import and export customs clearance as well as for the filing for special procedures (where applicable), preference management and (long-term) supplier declaration handling, customs tariff number and export control classification as well as match-handling of business partner matches on sanction lists.

In this role you will belong to a dedicated group of SAP GTS users.

The applicant will report to the Head of the GCC Customs & Foreign Trade Team, located in the GEA headquarter in Dusseldorf, Germany.  

Your Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the compliant filing of import and export customs declarations for the EU entities via SAP GTS edition for Hana (e4H)
• Manage customs declarations for special procedures as well as for the rightful closure of said procedures via SAP GTS e4H
• Determination and maintenance of customs tariff numbers and export control classifications with the support of rule-based classification software (Add-on to SAP GTS e4H)
• Requesting and processing (long-term) supplier declarations as well as for issuing (long-term) customer declarations upon request
• Issuing of preferential declaration on invoice/ requesting formal preferential origin documents such as EUR.1/ EUR.MED/ A.TR
• The applicant will be in charge of the preferential calculation/ determination of preferential origin
• License management in case of export licenses needed for export declaration/ depreciation of export licenses
• Determination of US content incorporated in delivered goods (de-minimis calculation)
• Handling of business partner matches on respective sanction lists and definition of real matches (system blockage) or false positives (Good Guy)
• Direct reporting line to Head of GCC Customs & Foreign Trade (Headquarter).
• Responsible for respective archiving and documentation of customs and export control transactions

Your Profile / Qualifications

Qualifications:

• A terminated logistics apprenticeship or similar relevant customs or foreign trade qualification
• Alternatively IT/ technical background with eagerness to learn about customs and foreign trade processes
• Thorough knowledge of MS office applications
• Motivation to learn about and deep dive into customs processes and continuously compliant customs and export control operations
• Business English fluency/ German language proficiency of advantage
• Respective work ethics such as sense of responsibility, commitment and flexibility

This position offers a gross annual salary of at least 144.000 RON. A market-competitive overpayment is possible depending on professional experience and qualifications.
