As a Manager, Content Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the content strategy and UX writing at Roblox. You will lead a group of content design specialists, ensuring that while our products serve diverse audiences they speak with a unified, trusted, and global Roblox voice. You will report into Design + Creative Leadership and act as a strategic partner to Product and Engineering.

You will:

• Architect and Unify the Product Voice, Narratives & Systems: You will be responsible for the craft and unified voice across our content design systems. Ensuring consistency in voice, tone, terminology, and style.

• Advocate for the user and drive a holistic Content Design vision... create and execute a scaling strategy that stays ahead of the growing business., making our products safe, valuable, understandable, and easy to use.

• Drive Horizontal Strategy: Identify and resolve friction points where product pillars overlap. Use empathy, logic, and technical acumen to inform content choices, and influence leaders and cross-functional partners.

• Lead a Team of Content Designers: While this is a player-coach role you will manage a team of content design specialists embedded across different product orgs. You’ll be responsible for their career growth, resource allocation, and maintaining a high bar for craft and execution.

• Operationalize the Discipline: Define the engagement model, process, and culture for Content Design at Roblox. You will ensure the team is a strategic partner to Product Design and UXR from the very start of the design and development process.

• Advocate with Data: Use research, linguistics, and performance data to champion content-led solutions to executive stakeholders and drive top-notch UX in a fast-paced environment.

• Ensure Global Scalability: Oversee the relationship with Localization to ensure our content frameworks are "global-first," allowing for cultural nuance without sacrificing brand integrity.

You have:

• 10+ years' experience in content design, UX writing, content strategy, with at least 3+ years in a management role with a complex, high-growth tech environment.

• A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of content design work, including user interface copy, microcopy, and style guides you have written and championed for a team.

• Ability to build a team culture, navigating organizational shifts and advocating for the tools your team needs to succeed.

• Ability to context switch across between technical documentation, emotional/empathetic flows, and persuasive/clear UI.

• Experience in providing content strategy for sensitive user experiences that require deep review by cross-functional partners from legal, civility, marketing, and localization perspectives.

• Proven track record collaborating with and influencing a vast variety of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, product designers, researchers, engineers, policy, localization, communications, and marketing).

• A strong understanding of UX principles, information architecture, naming and taxonomies,and user-centered design.

• Systems Mastery: Experience building or leading the content side of a major Design System (e.g., managing string repositories, naming conventions, and UI components).

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly present your work to stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in English or another language, Communications, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience.

• A proactive mindset with the ability to self-manage and succeed in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range
$230,150—$274,110 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
