BGC Okanagan is seeking a Child Care Manager to oversee the daily operations of multiple licensed childcare programs across our South Okanagan locations (Summerland and Penticton).
In this role, you will provide strong, hands-on leadership by coordinating daily activities, guiding and supporting staff, and ensuring consistent, high-quality program delivery. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple Child Care programs within the community.
Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans and programs.
Ensure contract deliverables are being met.
Ensure Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Operating Standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing Regulations, Risk Management requirements and general safety standards are always met and followed by all staff.
Provides leadership in accordance with Agency Vision, Mission Statement and Core Values.
Responsible to ensure all programs are adequately staff and be able to work in ratio as needed.
Responsible for the recruitment of staff and volunteers, including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, orientation and training.
Provides support in developing budgets for assigned programs. Reviews of financial statements and wage variance reports and adjusts as needed.
Works with supervisors to ensure that programs are responsive to individual needs of members, and behaviour plans are developed as appropriate.
Accesses and manages confidential personnel files, including disciplinary records, performance evaluations, criminal record checks, and medical information, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Supports supervisors across multiple Child Care programs with daily scheduling, staff direction, and ongoing performance feedback for employees and volunteers.
Contributes to the development of grant applications and funding proposals to sustain and enhance program delivery. Completes operational reporting to measure progress in areas of responsibility.
Qualifications:
Diploma in a related human/ social service field and/or three (3) years recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory and administrative experience
Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint
Class 4 Driver’s Licence
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday; occasional evenings and weekends may be required
Salary: $65,081 annually
