Your Job:
As the Manager, Accounting at Brooks, you will be a member of our high-performing Finance team. Utilizing your financial statement analysis, technical accounting expertise, and relationship-building abilities, you will contribute to the success and growth of the company through management and streamlining of the accounting operations, financial statement close, and financial reporting processes. You will continuously look for ways to improve Accounting operations through process development, system development, and people development. You will be responsible for overseeing the effective execution of team processes and controls, adherence to business policies and alignment with business strategy, and providing insights and guidance to relevant business partners. The ideal candidate will have experience driving innovation, using AI tools to summarize data, and drive efficiencies to help move the business forward.
Your Responsibilities::
People Leadership
• Demonstrate strong people leadership skills rooted in Brooks’ Connect Management principles.
• Promote Brooks’ Core Cultural values: Responsible for team culture and keeping a pulse on morale to proactively address any concerns. Utilize findings from Culture Strengths Survey to build on successes and create a plan for opportunities.
• Prioritize people investment by building a collaborative, open, trusting environment for employee, discussing professional development opportunities, and creating a culture of authentic recognition and giving thanks.
• Identify process improvements within the department; work with team members to discuss process roadblocks, control gaps, and optimization opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Keep up-to-date on relevant standards, regulatory guidance, and industry-specific developments relating to the specific and tangential operations of the department, informing cross-departmental stakeholders of required process changes and escalating issues timely.
• Promote and provide excellent customer service by effectively communicating and cooperating with all internal stakeholders.
• Serve as the departmental subject matter expert working alongside cross-functional business members to resolve issues in a strategic and effective manner.
• Connect with regional counterparts to share best practices and partner on scalability efforts to support business growth.
Technical Expertise
• Analyze, design, and implement accounting controls, policies, and procedures across departmental processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of outputs, lead training and drive adoption of new or enhanced processes.
• Provide technical GAAP expertise through the development, maintenance, and enhancement of formal accounting policies and position papers for areas of oversight, ensuring consistent application and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Provide subject matter expertise on accounting matters, including expense recognition and capitalization, serving as a trusted advisor to business partners.
• Research, evaluate, and clearly communicate the accounting implications of company strategy and key business decisions, including identifying alternatives and providing actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with third‑party service providers, regional finance counterparts, and internal business teams.
• Develop a working understanding of the forecasting process to analyze monthly fluctuations and variances and effectively explain results during forecast and close review meetings.
• Actively contribute to the monthly financial close, including ensuring journal entries and account reconciliations are prepared, reviewed, and completed on a timely basis.
• Lead departmental initiatives to document and standardize processes, supporting operational optimization and knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Identify and implement process improvements, including leading critical accounting projects and leveraging automation and system tools to increase efficiency and enhance the quality of underlying accounting records.
• Partner with department leadership to support planning and scaling of the regional Finance function in alignment with business growth and evolving needs.
• Participate in internal and external audits, supporting control walkthroughs, audit requests, and remediation activities.
Qualifications::
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; equivalent combination of education and years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree(s); CPA preferred
• 7+ years of experience working in Accounting
• 3+ years of management and/or leadership experience preferred
• Evidenced understanding of GAAP and accounting policy application
• M3 ERP experience, a plus
• Proven project management and prioritization skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills that build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and decision making skills
• Good, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Keen attention to detail and proven ability to effectively communicate results and action plans
• Knowledgeable and appreciative of leveraging technologies to build scalable processes, streamline operations, and improve real time decision making
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $110,571-$165,857per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
