Male Disability Support Worker – Health & Behaviour Support
Across Wollongong and Illawarra, NSW | Day & Community Shifts | Ongoing
We are seeking experienced Male Disability Support Workers to provide consistent, person-centred support to participants with health conditions, behavioural complexity, and daily living support needs across Wollongong.
This role suits someone calm, reliable, and respectful who can build strong rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
Due to participant preference and personal care requirements, this role is open to male applicants only (genuine occupational requirement).
Applicants must have availability across at least 4 days per week and be able to commit to 15–20+ hours per week.
About the Role
You will be supporting participants with:
Chronic health conditions (including diabetes)
Anxiety, stress, and community overwhelm
Domestic and daily living support needs
Behavioural complexity requiring structured, calm support
Some participants have pets in the home and require workers comfortable in this environment.
Consistency and reliability are essential for these placements.
Key Responsibilities
Support participants with daily living and domestic tasks
Assist with health-related routines in line with care plans
Support community access using reassurance, pacing, and encouragement
Respond calmly to challenging behaviours
Maintain accurate, objective documentation
Communicate professionally with families, clinicians, and management
Prioritise participant safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times
Essential Requirements
Male support worker (genuine occupational requirement)
Experience supporting participants with complex needs and/or behaviours
Ability to commit to 4+ days availability
Ability to work 15–20+ hours per week
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
Driver’s licence and reliable transport
Highly Desirable
Diabetes management or insulin experience
Experience supporting challenging behaviours
Trauma-informed practice
CPI / Behaviour Support experience
