A Maintenance worker job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department at West, Northwest, and East District locations. The Park and Recreation Department maintains more than 200 parks and public spaces citywide as well as providing recreational activities and educational programming that makes Fort Worth a great place to live, work and play.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED

• Valid Texas Driver’s license

• Must pass drug screen/physical

Preferred Qualifications:

• General landscape maintenance and/or construction experience

• Proper techniques and uses of a variety of hand and power tools and machinery

The Maintenance Worker job responsibilities include:

• Operate a variety of hand and small power tools (mowers, weed eaters, pole saws, shovel, rake, blowers, chain saws etc)

• Maintain Park turf, trees, and landscape plants

• Mowing, edging, and pruning

• Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment

• Performs other related duties as required

• Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations

Working Conditions and Physical Demand:

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
