We are in need of a permanent part-time Maintenance Millwright Apprentice who will be responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, and repairing industrial equipment while ensuring a high level of accuracy and safety. You will be required to maintain all industrial equipment to the required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures.
The ideal candidate must be a team player with strong attention to detail. The successful candidate should be able to troubleshoot and perform repairs with little to no supervision. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions on an elevated and/or restricted space.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment, or processes in order to facilitate production
Adjust machinery and repair/replace defective parts
Operate tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machines
Ensure operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
Assemble all machinery and equipment by bolting, welding, riveting, or fastening them to pre-built foundations
Adhere to assembly and installation instructions set forth in vendor manuals and specifications
Other duties as assigned by the manager
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
At least 2 years direct experience as a Maintenance Millwright or relevant job experience
We will consider candidates with a level 2 Millwright Apprenticeship or higher
Experience in welding (stick/MIG/TIG) is considered an asset
In-depth knowledge of industrial/construction equipment and machinery
Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment
Demonstrated good verbal and written English communication abilities
Manual dexterity is required to use power and hand tools
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Must be able to move around in elevated and restricted spaces
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated analytical ability
Able to work professionally, respectfully with a positive attitude and integrity
Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Work Conditions & Additional Information:
Work location: 550 Messier St., Winnipeg
Working hours: Monday thru Friday, 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm with the occasional start time of 4:30pm as needed
Own tools/equipment required: Steel-toed safety boots
