Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Compensation: Starts at $92,000 annually (higher based on experience)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor to lead maintenance operations within a large-scale manufacturing environment in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for driving equipment performance, supporting production efficiency, and leading a team focused on reliability and continuous improvement.
This position plays a key role in ensuring production and packaging systems operate at optimal levels while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead efforts to improve equipment reliability and overall operational efficiency
• Develop and implement troubleshooting processes for production and packaging systems
• Plan, prioritize, and assign maintenance tasks to team members
• Coordinate with internal departments to schedule equipment maintenance and service
• Organize planned shutdowns and ensure all required permits are secured
• Support equipment validation, qualification, and specification development
• Maintain and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Oversee spare parts inventory and ensure proper stock levels
• Promote and apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions for equipment and process improvements
• Manage small-scale projects such as equipment upgrades, tooling, and modifications
• Maintain relationships with external vendors and service providers
• Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance personnel
• Conduct team meetings and communicate departmental updates
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and cGMP requirements
• Assist in departmental budgeting and monitor cost efficiency
• Perform additional duties as needed to support operations
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
• Background in an engineering or technical field strongly preferred (Mechanical or Electrical)
Technical Skills:
• Experience with high-speed manufacturing or packaging equipment
• Knowledge of industrial controls and automation systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems troubleshooting
• Experience with maintenance management systems
• Familiarity with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) concepts
• Proven experience managing parts inventory
Additional Strengths:
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• Experience in consumer goods or packaging environments is a plus
• Proficiency with computer systems and maintenance software preferred
Work Experience Requirements:
• Maintenance: 5+ years (required)
