We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Technical Lead to support the development, maintenance, and modernisation of enterprise mainframe applications within a large-scale technology environment. The role will provide technical leadership across complex application landscapes, supporting system enhancement, integration, and delivery while mentoring development teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a 12-month full-time contract role based on-site in Darwin, NT.
Requirements:
What You’ll Do
• Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise mainframe applications and supporting systems
• Provide technical leadership across complex application environments and system integrations
• Plan, coordinate, test, and deliver system releases across development, test, and production environments
• Provide Level 3 technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for business-critical applications
• Support mainframe modernisation initiatives involving legacy and web-based technologies
• Develop and maintain technical, operational, and procedural documentation
• Provide technical advice, risk identification, and escalation support to stakeholders and management
• Mentor and guide development teams, supporting capability uplift and best practice delivery
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and customer-focused ICT solutions
What You’ll Bring
• Extensive experience across the full application development lifecycle within enterprise mainframe environments
• Strong expertise in mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, TSO, QMF, ISPF, JCL, DB2, SQL, EGL, and BIRT
• Experience with mainframe modernisation tools and practices, including Rocket LegaSuite products
• Knowledge of web development technologies including XML, HTML, JavaScript, .NET, and Sitecore
• Proven experience delivering complex application releases and managing deployments across multiple environments
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities within large-scale application environments
• Experience developing and maintaining enterprise application codebases and technical documentation
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and recommendations
• Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring development teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives
