Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational
Set up and operate Ermaksan fiber laser cutting machines safely and efficiently.
Load and position sheet metal parts according to work instructions and nesting layouts.
Transfer programs from server to equipment and download prints for inspections.
Perform first-article inspections and verify dimensions using precision measurement tools.
Adjust laser parameters and tooling as needed to meet specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to optimize cut quality and cycle time.
Organize completed parts by work order and routings.
Charge time accurately to work orders and maintain paperwork accountability.
Report daily production rates and setup changes.
Quality & Documentation
Conduct quality checks for cut features, edge finish, and dimensional accuracy.
Track and document completion of parts and work orders.
Report missing parts, rework needs, and downtime causes.
Communicate with leadmen, programming, and engineering regarding part files and setup requirements.
Review/update machine set up docs
Maintenance & Safety
Perform routine daily and weekly preventative maintenance procedures.
Monitor laser optics, filters, and consumables for wear and performance.
Maintain and manage laser tooling and inventory.
Adhere to all safety and environmental protocols.
Maintain clean and organized work area.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
Participate in team meetings focused on workflow improvement, safety, and production goals.
Assist in training and mentoring junior operators (Level 1–2).
Support cross-functional initiatives to reduce lead time and improve quality.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Highschool diploma or equivalent work experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of basic shop math and measurement principles.
Familiarity with CNC programming and fiber laser systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physically able to lift top 50 lbs. and stand for extended period of times.
Willingness to cross train in other machine operator roles
Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
Preferred:
Experience with Ermaksan fiber laser equipment or similar equipment (EG. Amada, Trumpf.)
Ability to perform basic program adjustments.
Basic understanding of 6S and Lean principles.
Knowledge of other fabrication equipment. (e.g. shears, press brakes, lasers.)
Minimum 1 year of hands -on machine operator experience preferred.
Experience with overhead crane operation.
