Machine Learning Engineering Manager - Identity Verification

As we continue investing in Identity Verification and biometric fraud prevention, we are expanding our engineering leadership in this domain.

As an Engineering Manager for our Identity Verification ML team, you will lead two highly skilled skillsets in a single cross-functional team:

• A Machine Learning team building state-of-the-art biometric and fraud detection models such as face liveness, document liveness, injection attack detection, and deepfake detection

• A Full-Stack Engineering team building the backend services, APIs, and frontend application layers that integrate these ML capabilities into the SEON IDV product

Your mission is to deliver production-grade ML systems and robust application infrastructure that together power SEON’s next-generation Identity Verification solutions. You will be accountable for technical direction, delivery excellence, team growth, and cross-functional alignment across a highly strategic product area.

This role can be based in Europe with hybrid or remote flexibility depending on location.

What you will do

• Define and execute the technical vision for SEON’s Identity Verification systems across ML models and full-stack application layers

• Lead end-to-end delivery of high-impact initiatives, from model development to backend services and frontend integration

• Guide architecture and best practices to ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and security

• Drive production excellence in ML, including monitoring, validation, and lifecycle management

• Foster strong collaboration across Engineering, Product, Design, and Customer Success

• Build a high-performance culture through coaching, hiring, and continuous team development

What you will bring

• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex software products

• Strong understanding of production ML systems, ideally in computer vision, biometrics, or fraud detection

• Experience owning the full ML lifecycle, from data and training to deployment and monitoring

• Solid background in SaaS or distributed systems, including backend APIs and modern frontend frameworks

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD practices

• Strong architectural thinking, communication skills, and a data-driven problem-solving mindset

• Cloud & DevOps Savvy: Solid experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud providers (AWS preferred, including experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform).

• Agile & Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile development environment, demonstrating strong adaptability and problem-solving skills for ambiguous and complex challenges.

• Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, design, and implement end-to-end solutions that align with business objectives and technical vision.

• Communication: Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence stakeholders at all levels.

• Problem-Solving: Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and proactive solution recommendation.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in identity verification, biometrics, or presentation attack detection

• Experience with adversarial ML, deepfake detection, or spoofing countermeasures.

• Experience with Computer vision technologies.

• Experience deploying models to mobile or edge environments

• Familiarity with monitoring live ML systems and handling data drift
