The Global Siri Organization is the team that teaches Siri how to understand and speak new languages. We work hard to bring the best user experiences and language technologies powered by Apple Intelligence to the our customers across the world.

We are seeking an experienced engineering manager to lead the development of SOTA language technologies to deliver the next generation Apple Intelligence experiences to international markets. Our cross functional work involves modeling, research, design, measuring, deployment, spanning the entire product life cycle from project inception to shipping models on billions of devices. The ideal candidate would have expertise in the efficient and scalable development of multi-lingual language technologies and in managing or leading an engineering team.

Join Apple's Global Siri team as a Machine Learning Manager to deliver the best Siri experience around the world. In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of ML architecture, technology selection, model training, fine-tuning, ablation studies, and productization. You will drive applied research, leveraging emerging technologies to solve complex multi-lingual language understanding and scaling challenges. You will collaborate with world-class cross-functional teams to deliver the Siri product worldwide. Additionally, you will be encouraged to contribute to the broader research community by publishing in top-tier AI/ML journals.

Specific responsibilities include:

Working closely with the different Understanding, Experience, Platform and International teams, manage a team of Machine Learning Engineers to implement innovative language technologies and products that meet the business goals.

Lead the team responsible for creative SOTA ML technologies to deliver highly scalable and relevant Apple Intelligence experiences data and making data driven decisions to improve the Global Siri experience; also responsible for data annotation efforts and defining language specific representations, conventions and techniques.

Build ambitious engineering plans to achieve international excellence for Siri customers around the world.

Provide regular updates to organization groups as well as VP-level management.

Preferred Qualifications
Excellent strategic visioning, planning, prioritization, and organization skills.

Track record of leading complex engineering projects.

Ability to establish strong partnerships and manage complex cross-functional relationships.

Experience developing robust scalable system for international language, also highly desirable.

PhD or MSc in Language Technologies, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.

Minimum Qualifications
Strong leadership, management, planning and co-ordination skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across an organization.

Hands on experience leading engineering teams developing machine learning technologies and systems. Detailed understanding of building, evaluating and release management processes for ML systems.

Experience developing/training/fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), large computer vision models, or generative AI models.
