Position Summary:
The M&A Director leads the development and execution of Banco Santander International’s strategy to expand its M&A Advisory platform and enhance its value proposition for Private Banking clients. This role is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and executing middle-market transactions, driving growth through strategic acquisitions.
The M&A Director possesses extensive experience in middle-market M&A, strong financial and strategic expertise, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with BSI executive leadership, Santander’s Corporate & Investment Banking division, external advisors, and cross-functional teams.
Position Duties / Responsibilities:
• Develops and executes BSI’s M&A strategy, with a focus on middle-market opportunities (typically $25M–$100M+ in enterprise value).
• Identifies, assesses, and prioritizes M&A opportunities aligned with BSI’s strategic objectives and growth initiatives.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with BSI Private Banking teams and clients, Santander’s Corporate & Investment Banking division, private equity and financial sponsors, strategic acquirers, and M&A advisory firms.
• Monitors industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market developments to inform strategy and strengthen the M&A pipeline.
• Leads end-to-end transaction execution, including deal origination, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
• Serves as a trusted advisor to BSI executive leadership and Strategic Solutions, providing strategic insights and transaction guidance.
• Establishes, refines, and upholds M&A processes, governance frameworks, and best practices.
• Mentors and develops Strategic Solutions team members, fostering talent and supporting the platform’s growth.
• Other duties as assigned or requested by immediate supervisor.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience
Business Experience:
8 - 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated required level of proficiency
Specialized and/or Technical Knowledge:
• Demonstrated success originating and leading middle-market M&A transactions.
• Ability to manage a pipeline with multiple complex transactions simultaneously.
• Deep understanding of deal structuring, negotiations, and transaction documents.
• Strategic thinking and commercial judgment.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• High integrity, sound judgment, and leadership skills.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in credit and financing products and financial markets in general.
• Detailed corporate and financing product understanding, linked specifically to Private Banking.
• In-depth knowledge of Latam Offshore Private Banking market, Financing and Corporate products and services.
• Ability to understand and implement process and/or regulatory requirements during all interactions with clients.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
• Strong sales and marketing skills.
• Ability to work closely and co-operatively in a small team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Languages:
English and Spanish, required.
What Else You Need To Know:
The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

$275,000.00 USD
