The role:
The M&A Data Researcher / Analyst is responsible for researching, capturing, and maintaining transaction data within the EMIS M&A database. The role involves monitoring press releases, stock exchange disclosures, financial news, and other authoritative sources to identify relevant mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and equity capital market transactions. The successful candidate will accurately input transaction details using a standardized template, draft concise headlines and summaries, and perform basic financial analyses and valuation calculations.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor M&A and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) activity across Eastern Europe and input all relevant transactions into the company’s database in line with internal criteria and volume targets.
Draft clear, descriptive English-language headlines and summaries for each recorded transaction.
Review financial statements and compute financial metrics, including valuation multiples.
Identify and evaluate new information sources while staying current on regional M&A developments.
Maintain the accuracy and completeness of transaction records within the database.
Contribute to the preparation of quarterly M&A reports and monthly newsletters by providing analytical comments on regional market trends.
Communicate with M&A financial and legal advisors as needed.
Participate in cross‑functional company or product‑wide initiatives and projects.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate manager.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Journalism, Eastern European Studies, or a related field from a recognized university.
Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in an Eastern European language is considered an advantage plus.
Prior experience is not required; recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. 1–2 years of relevant experience (M&A, capital markets, research, financial analysis, or financial reporting) is a strong asset.
Additional Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of economics and corporate finance principles.
Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and produce clear analytical commentary.
Prior exposure to data research, M&A, or capital markets is a plus.
Proficiency with the Internet and MS Office applications (especially Outlook and Excel).
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
