Job Summary
Allegiance Specialty Hospital of Greenville is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our growing nursing team. The LPN provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Charge RN and Director of Nursing while supporting safe, accurate, and timely treatment of patients in our psychiatric and medical programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The LPN will:
Follow shift assignments from the Charge Nurse
Administer medications accurately and in a timely manner
Transcribe, process, and implement physician orders
Perform 24-hour chart checks and correct documentation discrepancies
Document all medications, treatments, and patient care according to protocol
Perform patient care assessments and respond to patient needs promptly
Monitor and communicate patient responses to medications and treatments
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Provide patient and family education
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
Follow infection control and employee health guidelines
Participate in admissions and discharges
Serve as a patient advocate
Attend required staff meetings and in-services
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team
Comply with all hospital policies and professional standards
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an approved Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
License
Current, unrestricted Mississippi LPN License
Experience
Minimum 1 year of LPN experience preferred
Certifications
CPR (required)
Behavioral Management Training (required or must be completed upon hire)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Professional interpersonal skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Basic computer proficiency
Understanding of medical and psychiatric conditions
Knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work performed primarily indoors in a healthcare environment
Regular exposure to psychiatric and medical patient care
Must be able to stand, walk, lift, bend, and assist patients as required
Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and cleaning chemicals may occur
