REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
STATUS: Full time, non-exempt
LOCATION: Beaumont, TX (local routes / home daily)
SALARY RANGE: $25.00-$30.00/hour commensurate with experience and endorsements

JOB SUMMARY:
The Local CDL A Truck Driver plays a critical role in supporting daily feedstock supply and on-site production at our Beaumont facility. This position is primarily responsible for daily local pickup of shrimp processing waste using refrigerated (reefer) trucks, unloading material via forklift, and supporting on-site processing activities related to fertilizer production. In addition, this role will occasionally operate tanker trucks to move non-hazardous liquid products between internal tanks or nearby locations. This is a hands-on, operations-focused driving role that goes beyond traditional over-the-road work and is ideal for candidates who enjoy local routes, consistent schedules, and working directly with production teams.
Most routes are local, allowing the driver to return home daily.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform daily local pickup of shrimp processing byproducts using company-owned refrigerated (reefer) tractor/trailer trucks
Safely secure palletized or containerized shrimp waste at supplier locations
Transport material to the Beaumont facility following DOT and company procedures
Unload inbound material using forklifts and related material-handling equipment
Stage, manage, and transfer raw material into designated processing tanks
Support on-site processing operations, including basic material handling and coordination with production staff
Occasionally operate tanker trucks to move non-hazardous liquid fertilizer between tanks or nearby facilities
Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT requirements
Identify and promptly report any vehicle, equipment, or refrigeration issues
Maintain accurate documentation, including bills of lading, load records, and ELD entries
Ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of trailers, tanks, and unloading areas
Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
Work independently while maintaining close communication with operations and logistics staff
Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid CDL Class A
Manual Transmission experience.
Tanker endorsement required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe
Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience (local experience preferred)
Experience operating refrigerated (reefer) equipment
Forklift experience or willingness to be trained and certified
Clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements
Ability to comply with FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service and ELD usage
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience hauling agricultural, food-processing, or organic byproduct materials
Experience unloading freight using forklifts or industrial material-handling equipment
Familiarity with tanker operations involving non-hazardous liquids
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues
Experience working in or around manufacturing, processing, or industrial environments
Comfortable working outdoors and in industrial settings in varying weather conditions
Willingness to perform hands-on, non-driving tasks as part of a small operations team
Licensing & Special Requirements
Incumbent is subject to a criminal background check and motor vehicle record review
Valid CDL with applicable endorsements
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb in and out of trucks, trailers, and forklifts
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
Comfortable working around industrial equipment, raw organic materials, and processing areas
Must be able to wear safety equipment (PPE) as required
