Job Description

Strategic Legal Practices, APC (SLP) is a high-volume consumer protection and lemon law litigation firm committed to holding manufacturers accountable on behalf of California consumers. We are seeking an experienced Litigation Coordinator to lead the team responsible for case resolution operations — the department that manages everything from the point a matter is heading toward resolution through its final close.

This role requires someone who has worked in California civil litigation long enough to understand that the final stages of a case carry some of the highest procedural stakes. Missed deadlines, incomplete documentation, and miscommunication at this stage have real consequences — for clients, for attorneys, and for the firm. The Litigation Coordinator is the person who makes sure none of that happens.

You will own a defined set of resolution-stage functions, lead a small team with clearly defined responsibilities, and work in close coordination with supervising attorneys. The right candidate brings substantive California litigation experience, a methodical approach to deadline management, and the communication skills to represent the firm professionally with opposing counsel, courts, and vendors.

Case Resolution & Closeout Management

The Coordinator owns the end-to-end closeout workflow for resolved matters. This requires both procedural knowledge and operational discipline — each case must be closed correctly, completely, and in the right sequence:

• Prepare and finalize closeout correspondence and required notices for resolved matters, ensuring all documentation accurately reflects the terms of resolution and satisfies applicable legal and court requirements
• Coordinate and track all post-resolution compliance obligations with strict attention to timing, including notices, disclosures, and actions with defined deadlines tied to the resolution date
• Manage financial processing associated with case closeout, including tracking and coordinating transmittals that require accuracy and timely handling across internal and external parties
• Ensure all case files are complete, properly documented, and archived in accordance with firm protocols before a matter is formally closed

Court-Ordered & Compliance Obligation Tracking

A portion of this role involves managing obligations that arise from court orders, stipulations, or formal case agreements — items with hard deadlines and consequences for non-compliance. The Coordinator will:

• Maintain a current, accurate log of all open compliance obligations across the portfolio, with assigned owners, due dates, and completion status updated in real time
• Coordinate the execution and documentation of required actions, confirm completion with responsible parties, and retain proof of compliance in the case record
• Communicate with supervising attorneys proactively about upcoming obligations, potential conflicts, and any items at risk of delay
• Delegate specific compliance tasks to team members and verify their accurate, timely completion — the Coordinator is ultimately accountable for what the team produces

Mediation & Settlement Conference Coordination

SLP resolves a high volume of cases through mediation and court-ordered settlement conferences. The Coordinator is the operational lead for all scheduling, logistics, and confirmation workflows tied to these proceedings:

• Initiate and manage scheduling for mediations and settlement conferences, coordinating among attorneys, opposing counsel, mediators, and the court to confirm dates and logistics
• Send professional, timely confirmations to opposing counsel and external mediators confirming that proceedings are scheduled and on track
• Prepare and distribute recurring scheduling summaries to external stakeholders on a defined cadence, maintaining accuracy across a large and shifting active caseload
• Monitor court-ordered deadlines for scheduling these proceedings and flag risks before they become violations
• Confirm that all required stipulations or filings tied to mediation or settlement conference obligations have been completed and recorded

Attorney & Opposing Counsel Communication

The Coordinator serves as a professional point of contact for routine case communications that do not require attorney involvement, and as a reliable intermediary when they do:

• Draft and manage correspondence with opposing counsel on scheduling, document exchange, confirmations, and routine case coordination matters
• Prepare attorneys for time-sensitive calls and conference obligations by ensuring they have current case status, relevant documentation, and any pending items requiring their input
• Escalate matters appropriately and promptly — knowing what requires an attorney’s attention and what can be resolved at the coordination level is a core judgment call this role makes daily

Team Leadership & Delegation

The Litigation Coordinator supervises two team members with defined function areas and is responsible for their daily direction, accuracy, and professional growth:

• Assign and delegate tasks based on function area, workload, and priority; track progress and hold team members accountable to deadlines and quality standards
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for team questions on procedures, case status, and attorney communications — resolving what you can and surfacing what requires attorney judgment
• Provide regular, candid feedback to team members and flag performance issues to firm leadership early
• Coordinate language access needs within the team to ensure all clients receive effective communication, including Spanish-language support where required

Requirements:
• 4+ years of experience in California civil litigation, with meaningful exposure to case resolution, post-resolution compliance, court filings, and procedural deadlines
• Working knowledge of California civil procedure at the level required to recognize a deadline, understand its consequences, and act without waiting to be prompted
• Direct experience managing or coordinating court-ordered obligations or compliance-driven workflows with hard deadlines and documented outcomes
• Experience coordinating mediations or settlement conferences in a litigation environment, including professional communication with opposing counsel and external neutrals
• Experience preparing or coordinating cost recovery documentation following case resolution in California state or federal court
• Proven ability to supervise or direct litigation support staff, including delegating work and holding others accountable to timelines
• Strong professional writing skills — you are drafting correspondence that goes to opposing counsel and courts; it needs to be accurate, well-constructed, and reflect the firm’s standards
• High organizational capacity with demonstrated ability to manage a large number of concurrent matters without gaps, dropped items, or reactive deadline management
• Proficiency with legal case management platforms, document management systems, and Microsoft Office
• Compensation: $32-35/hr

Strongly Preferred

• Prior experience at a plaintiff-side consumer protection, lemon law, or high-volume civil litigation firm
• Familiarity with California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act or comparable consumer protection statutes
• Experience with e-filing platforms such as File & ServeXpress, One Legal, or equivalent
• Bilingual in English and Spanish — a meaningful plus given client communication needs on the team
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or ABA-approved paralegal certificate

Work Environment & Expectations

This is a fully in-office role based at SLP’s Century City, Los Angeles headquarters. You will work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where the work does not slow down and the standard for accuracy is high. The Litigation Coordinator is expected to operate with significant independence on day-to-day coordination tasks while keeping supervising attorneys informed of anything that requires their judgment.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their function, holds their team to the same standard, and understands that in litigation, operational precision is not a soft skill — it’s a professional obligation.
