Litigation Associate - General Liability Defense

We are expanding our litigation team and seeking a driven Associate Attorney to handle General Liability defense matters in Coral Gables, Florida. This full-time opportunity allows the attorney to manage files independently while collaborating with senior litigators on complex matters throughout the Coral Gables legal community.

The ideal candidate brings 2–4 years of hands-on litigation experience within a defense-oriented law firm and is comfortable appearing in court, conducting depositions, and drafting substantive motions. This position is based in Coral Gables and involves active courtroom participation, strategic file ownership, and direct client communication. An active license with The Florida Bar is required.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of General Liability defense cases throughout Coral Gables and surrounding jurisdictions.
• Handle matters involving premises liability, healthcare-related claims, HOA disputes, assisted living facilities, and long-term care litigation.
• Review and interpret medical documentation, expert reports, and investigative materials to develop effective defense strategies.
• Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment, before courts serving Coral Gables.
• Conduct and defend depositions of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and retained experts.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Develop litigation plans, prepare case evaluations, mediation statements, and pre-trial submissions.
• Represent clients at mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials in and around Coral Gables.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing updates and strategic recommendations.

Requirements:
• 2–4 years of litigation experience, specifically in General Liability defense.
• Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
• Prior exposure to premises liability, medical malpractice defense, or comparable claims preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation files from inception through resolution.
• Strong legal writing skills with experience drafting substantive pleadings and motions.
• Proven deposition and courtroom advocacy experience.
• Excellent analytical reasoning, organizational skills, and client-facing communication abilities.
