Job Description

About Proscia

Pathology is at the center of medicine, and is undergoing a profound transformation as the final frontier of digitization in healthcare. We started Proscia to accelerate pathology’s transition from microscope to images, and to use that data to change the way we think about cancer. We can’t change medicine alone. That’s why we’re looking for curious thinkers. Big dreamers. Developers, evangelists, pathologists, and scientists. Exceptional talent to help us use great power for good and advance humankind.

At Proscia, we push the limits of medicine and technology, solving problems the world has never solved before. We build software used by thousands of scientists and pathologists, who work on the front lines of fighting big enemies, like cancer, for patients around the globe. To accelerate our vision, Proscia has raised capital from great investors like Highline Capital Management, Emerald Development Managers, Triangle Peak Partners, Alpha Intelligence Capital, Scale Venture Partners, Hitachi Ventures, Flybridge, and more.

Role Overview

We are seeking an LIS Interface Engineer to design, implement, and support integrations between Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Proscia’s Concentriq digital pathology platform. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, customer workflows, and software engineering.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining HL7-based interfaces, collaborating with internal product and implementation teams, and working directly with customer technical stakeholders to ensure seamless, reliable data exchange across complex laboratory environments.

This role requires someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable reasoning through real-world clinical workflows—not just message specs.

As an LIS Interface Engineer, your responsibilities are:

Implementation Responsibilities

Evaluate information about client information systems that may need to interface with the Concentriq image management system, including anatomic pathology laboratory information systems (AP-LIS), interface engines, or other middleware.

Implement integration solution utilizing documented product procedures, as well as skills and knowledge of industry best-practices.

Work with Implementation Project Manager to establish project interface milestones

Manage interface components of the project plan and ensure timelines are met

Resolve complex customer issues in creative and effective ways using IT concepts and/or business unit objectives

Educate customer on Proscia’s interface implementation process, including the integration framework, and specification review

Educate customer on application and interface support

Assist customers with HL7 message review and initial testing

Assist with development and revision of content for interface implementation methodology and supporting materials

Provide second-level support for complex interface-related issues.

Document customer configuration accurately to facilitate timely transition to Support

Participate in Customer Success project meetings, providing status updates and escalating issues

Provide feedback to continually improve processes

Effective teamwork and communication internally and externally. Facilitates/leads detailed planning with customer IT staff and deliver technical briefings to the customer

Software Development Lifecycle Responsibilities

Work with product managers and developers to define and review interface-related requirements

Provide content and outlines for interface-related product documentation

Work with QA in developing realistic interface test cases

Provide interface-related training to QA and Customer Service Engineers.

What are we seeking

To be a successful LIS Interface Engineer in EMEA you will have the following:

At least 3 years of interface implementation and product development experience within a healthcare information systems vendor or provider environment

Working knowledge of HL7 standard and application of the standard to a variety of ADT, Order, and Results interface integrations

Business or technical presentation or teaching experience

Ability to work independently as well as be an active, engaged team member

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with executive, technical and non-technical individuals within and outside of Proscia

Project management experience highly desirable

Minimum bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience preferred

Demonstrated experience with Iguana or similar interface engine (ex. Mirth Connect)

Ability to travel (approximately 10-20%) across the EMEA region

Familiarity with Rest API is a must

Beyond Just Work

As a company in the healthcare field, we want our people to be happy and healthy, in and out of the office. In addition to competitive pay, we ensure everyone on our team is supported with savings, schedule, and insurance options that promote long-term health and personal growth.

We’re located in the heart of Philadelphia, with views of the city atop the train station so you can spend your time focusing on what matters most. Yes, we have the free food, gourmet coffee, craft beer, and wellness rooms —but you’ll come for the challenge, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to do bold work.
