Job Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to Aspasia's standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and supporting the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during breakfast and lunch shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation at all times.
Ensure food is cooked and plated according to Aspasia presentation and portion guidelines.
Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the Kitchen Manager.
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage, handling, and rotation.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as needed.
Collaborate with BOH and FOH staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
Support training of new kitchen staff as needed.
Assist in closing duties, including cleaning kitchen equipment, surfaces, and utensils.
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to lift, carry, and move kitchen equipment and supplies as needed.
Working Conditions
Extended periods of standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
Exposure to heat, steam, and kitchen equipment.
High-volume service periods requiring speed, focus, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role in a breakfast/lunch or casual dining café preferred.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
Culinary school or formal training is a plus but not required.
ServSafe Food Handler or Manager certification.
