Lifeguard/Swim Instructor- Full Time or Part Time

Under the direction of the Lead Lifeguard, teach swim lessons, lifeguard and perform public safety work in preventing injuries in the municipal pool facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of duties including constant observance of patrons, enforcement of safety rules and regulations, administration of first aid and/or artificial resuscitation and teaching swim lessons.

Perform safety walk arounds of all areas of responsibility per shift.

Responsible for completion of pool cleaning and maintenance (i.e., cleaning decks, gutters, guard office, restrooms/cabanas, garbage, etc.)

Assist in conducting special swimming activities

Handle all patron and pool problems in an efficient, timely and proper manner according to established procedures

Function as part of a crew within an emergency plan for the handling of accidents in pool areas

Perform other duties as required

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to swim 500 meters continuously

Ability to adjust schedule to meet company needs, may include occasional nights and weekends

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Three (3) months (one season) experience teaching swim lessons or lifeguarding

Required Certifications:

American Red Cross Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid or the ability to obtain within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
