Position Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Department: Pain Management Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
Reports To: Clinical Director / Nurse Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The LVN provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced Pain Management Ambulatory Surgery Center. This role supports pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical workflows, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care for patients undergoing interventional pain procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
Perform patient intake, including vital signs, medication review, allergy verification, and pain assessment.
Prepare patients for interventional pain procedures following ASC protocols.
Assist physicians with injections, fluoroscopy-guided procedures, IV starts, and medication administration within LVN scope.
Monitor patients in pre-op and recovery, recognizing changes in condition and reporting promptly.
Provide post-procedure education, discharge instructions, and medication guidance.
Clinical Support
Set up, organize, and maintain sterile and non-sterile procedure rooms.
Assist with instrument handling, sterile field preparation, and supply management.
Ensure proper use and cleaning of medical equipment, including C-arm, monitors, and crash cart readiness.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant charting in the EHR system.
Safety & Compliance
Follow infection control, OSHA, and ASC safety protocols.
Participate in quality assurance programs and clinical improvement initiatives.
Maintain medication logs, controlled substance handling documentation, and equipment checklists.
Support AAAHC/Joint Commission accreditation standards.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with RNs, MAs, anesthesia providers, and physicians to support smooth daily operations.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to ensure positive experiences.
Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and stocking.
Qualifications
Required
Current and valid LVN license in the state of California
Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills.
Preferred
Experience in pain management, ambulatory surgery, orthopedics, or procedure-based specialties.
Knowledge of sterile technique, IV therapy, and post-anesthesia monitoring.
Familiarity with EHR systems and ASC workflow.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to assist patients safely in pre-op and post-op settings.
