Position Title: Shipping and Inventory Associate
Reports to: Materials Manager
FT/PT : FT
Exempt -Non-Exempt : Non-Exempt, hourly
Location : On-site, Middleton Office
Position Summary:
The Level 3 Inventory and Distribution Specialist is the highest-level individual contributor role within the warehouse team. This position requires advanced knowledge of warehouse operations, MRP systems, and logistics coordination including both domestic and international freight. The Level 3 Associate operates with a high degree of independence and serves as a subject matter expert and resource for Level 1 and Level 2 associates.
Key Responsibilities:
MRP & Inventory Management
Utilize and maintain the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system to manage inventory levels, reorder points, and material planning
Process transactions including receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments within the MRP system accurately and in a timely manner
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies; perform cycle counts and support physical inventory audits
Generate and analyze MRP reports to support purchasing and production planning decisions
Freight & Logistics
Book and coordinate domestic freight shipments including LTL, FTL, and parcel carriers
Book and coordinate international freight shipments including ocean, air, and ground; manage documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
Communicate with freight brokers, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or issues
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company shipping procedures
Warehouse Operations
Pick, pack, and ship parts and materials accurately based on work orders, sales orders, and transfer requests
Receive incoming shipments; inspect, verify, and document received goods against purchase orders and packing slips
Put away parts and materials in designated warehouse locations following established procedures
Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safe working conditions
Optimize warehouse layout and bin locations for efficiency and accuracy
Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed
Leadership & Support
Serve as a go-to resource and mentor for Level 1 and Level 2 warehouse associates
Assist with training new team members on warehouse processes and MRP system usage
Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to management
Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned
Relevant Knowledge and Skill requirements:
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 3–5 years of warehouse experience, including inventory management and shipping/receiving
Demonstrated proficiency with MRP/ERP systems. NetSuite experience a plus.
Experience booking shipments through LTL carrier websites and coordinating with freight brokers/forwarders for dedicated domestic and international shipments.
Proficiency with warehouse management tools and basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
Associate’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or related field
Forklift certification
Familiarity with lean warehouse principles or continuous improvement methodologies
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift
Ability to operate material handling equipment safely
May require occasional overtime or flexible scheduling based on business needs
